ISTANBUL (AA) – Ukraine claimed on Sunday that it struck two Russian landing ships in the port city of Sevastopol in the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014.
Ukraine’s General Staff claimed in a Telegram statement that the country’s defense forces successfully hit the Yamal and Azov landing ships in Sevastopol.
The statement further claimed that a communications center and several Russian infrastructure facilities were also hit.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-installed governor of Sevastopol, said in a statement on Telegram that transport infrastructure in the city was damaged due to an overnight Ukrainian missile attack.
In an earlier statement, Razvozhayev said one person was killed and four were injured in the region due to the missile attack.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on Ukraine’s claims on hitting the two landing ships.
