ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine on Friday claimed that it downed 33 out of 37 drones fired by Russia over multiple regions of the war-torn country.

A statement by the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that Russia launched a S-300 anti-aircraft guided missile, two Kh-59 guided air missiles and 37 attack drones overnight targeting southern and eastern Ukraine.

The statement further claimed that 33 of the 37 attack drones launched by Russia were downed over the country’s Kirovohrad, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions.

Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram that the attack hit and damaged an infrastructure facility in the region, resulting in a fire.
Expressing there were no casualties, Kiper provided no further information.

Meanwhile, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov said that seven people were injured in the city of Chuhuiv due to a strike by an S-300 guided missile.

He also said that two people were killed due to shelling in the city of Kupiansk late Thursday.

Earlier, Synyehubov had declared mandatory evacuations from some settlements near Kupiansk.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claims, and independent verification of Ukraine’s claims is difficult due to the ongoing war.
