ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said Sunday that 105 settlements in six regions of the country were without power due to bad weather.

A statement by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry said that 39 settlements in the country’s western Khmelnytskyi region and 37 settlements in the Kyiv region surrounding the capital are either partially or fully without electricity.

The statement further said that the situation also applies to 16 settlements in the northern Chernihiv region, seven settlements in the southwestern Odesa region, five settlements in the northeastern Sumy region and another settlement in the western Chernivtsi region.

Some 500 settlements remained partially or completely without power in the morning due to technical disruptions and hostilities amid the Russia-Ukraine war, the statement said.

“The energy system remains balanced. However, constant enemy (Russian) attacks cause damage, making it difficult to operate,” it added.

Ukrainian authorities have urged consumers to limit their use of electricity during peak hours as the war-torn country prepares for the winter months.
