ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said on Tuesday that at least six people were killed due to Russian shelling in the city of Kherson in the country’s south.
“A Russian strike on Kherson, right in the city center. As of now, six deaths have been confirmed. My deepest condolences to all the families and friends affected,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X.
In order to attain lasting peace, Zelenskyy said: “Pressure on the aggressor and support for Ukraine must be constant and comprehensive.”
Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said that the shelling struck a market in the city center.
He further said that 12 people have been injured, with six of them having life-threatening injuries.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
