ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said on Monday that a bugging device was found in an office that could be used by Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the country’s commander-in-chief.

"Yesterday, during a routine inspection of the premises, elements of equipment for removing information were discovered in one of the deployment locations," the General Staff of the armed forces said in a statement on Facebook.

It added that the devices were installed in offices designated for Zaluzhnyi and his officials to work, indicating that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was notified on the matter.

The SBU opened a criminal case on the discovery of the device, which it said was not in a working state.

The service said that no means of collecting information or means of remote transmission of audio recordings were found, and the device will be submitted for examination.

“Employees of the SBU are taking all legal measures to investigate this offense,” according to the release.
