KYIV (AA) – At least seven people were killed and many others injured in a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv on Saturday, state news agency Ukrinform reported.
"Seven dead, 129 injured, including 15 children and 15 police officers," Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Telegram.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack targeted the "heart of Chernihiv."
“Today, a Russian missile hit the heart of Chernihiv. A square, a university, and a theater. Russia turned an ordinary Saturday into a day of pain and loss. There are casualties. My condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one,” Zelenskyy said.
"I urge the world to stand up to Russian terror. Provide Ukraine with additional tools to safeguard life. For life to win, Russia must lose this war."
