ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said on Tuesday that an overnight Russian attack targeted an energy infrastructure facility in the country’s western Rivne region.
“Another hostile attack on the Rivne region. The target was an energy infrastructure facility,” Rivne Governor Oleksandr Koval said in a statement on Telegram.
Koval said that all relevant emergency services are working on the scene of the incident, adding that initial estimates suggest that there was no casualty.
The statement added that more information on the incident will become available later in the day.
In another statement, Ukraine’s Air Force claimed that it downed 22 out of 28 drones launched last night by Russia over the country’s Kyiv, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
“Several hits on critical infrastructure facilities in the Ternopil and Rivne regions were recorded,” it further said.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claims.
