Ukraine’s president meets with his Uruguayan, Ecuadorian, Paraguayan counterparts

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attends inauguration ceremony for Argentina’s newly elected President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met on Sunday with his Uruguayan, Ecuadorian and Paraguayan counterparts in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires.

Zelenskyy met with Paraguay’s President Santiago Pena, Uruguay’s President Luis Lacalle Pou and Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony for Argentina’s newly elected President Javier Milei.

Thanking Pena for the support Paraguay provided to Ukraine within the framework of international organizations, Zelenskyy said on X that they discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade during their meeting.

He also acknowledged Uruguay’s support in a post on X.

“I met with President Luis Lacalle Pou to thank Uruguay and its people for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

“We paid special attention to the prospect of holding a Ukraine-Latin America summit,” he added.

“I thanked Ecuador for its stance in support of resolutions condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine and invited it to the next Peace Formula meeting in January 2024,” Zelenskyy said regarding his meeting with Noboa.

Zelenskyy underlined opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, digitization and agricultural product trade with Ecuador.

He said he also invited Ecuador to participate in the implementation of Ukraine's Peace Formula.
