MOSCOW (AA) - The Ukrainian army launched a large-scale attack in five locations on the southern Donetsk front but was prevented from breaching Russian defenses, a spokesman for Russia’s Defense Ministry said Sunday.
Speaking in a press briefing, Igor Konashenkov provided information about attacks initiated by certain brigades of the Ukrainian army.
"On the morning of June 4, with the support of other military units, the enemy launched a large-scale attack in five areas of the southern Donetsk front using the 23rd and 31st Mechanized Brigades from the strategic reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," he said.
Konashenkov said Ukraine used six mechanized and two tank battalions in the attack and noted that their goal was to breach Russian defenses from the weakest point of the front, but they were unable to fulfill their mission.
