ISTANBUL (AA) - At least six people were killed and 35 injured due to a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s border region of Belgorod, local authorities said on Monday.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram that two buses and a passenger car transporting people to work were attacked by drones near the village of Berezovka in the region’s Borisovsky district.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the explosion, six people died on the spot … I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased residents,” Gladkov said.
He further said that 35 people were injured, including two children with "superficial injuries" and a man with a penetrating abdominal wound who is undergoing surgery.
Gladkov went on to say that the remaining, who received shrapnel wounds of varying severity, have been transported to regional medical institutions by ambulance.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into the incident.
