ANKARA (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nauseda spoke over the phone on Friday and discussed the latest situation in eastern and southern Ukraine.
“In touch with our friend, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda. We talked about the situation on the battlefield, Ukraine's defense needs, and further Euro-Atlantic integration,” Zelenskyy said on Twitter.
He also accepted Nauseda’s greetings on Ukraine’s Defenders Day, celebrated annually on Oct. 14.
Nauseda, for his part, indicated that his country will continue supporting Ukraine on all fronts and advocate for more support from the West.
“More air defense systems to Ukraine now to protect its citizens!” he said on Twitter.
The phone call came a day after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the alliance will provide more air defense assistance to Ukraine.
“We will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Stoltenberg reiterated, vowing increased support for the country, which has been battling Russian forces since February.
