ISTANBUL (AA) - The annual inflation rate was at 2.2% in August in the UK, unchanging from July, the Office for National Statistics (Ons) revealed on Wednesday.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices index (CPI) rose by 0.3% in August, the Ons stated.
"The largest upward contribution to the monthly change in both CPIH and CPI annual rates came from air fares, which rose this year but fell a year ago; the largest offsetting downward contributions came from motor fuels, and restaurants and hotels," the Ons said.
Core CPI - excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco - rose by 3.6% year-on-year in August in the country, up from 3.3% in July.
