HAMILTON, Canada (AA) - The UN chief on Friday denounced a recent attack on the headquarters of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied East Jerusalem by a group of Israeli extremists.
"I condemn the recent attack on UNRWA's Headquarters in East Jerusalem," Antonio Guterres wrote on X.
Stressing that "targeting aid workers and humanitarian assets is unacceptable," the UN chief said it "must stop."
On Thursday, the UN agency said that Israeli extremists “set fire twice to the perimeter” of the UNRWA headquarters.
A crowd, accompanied by armed men, was witnessed outside the compound chanting “Burn down the United Nations,” it added.
