Unidentified drone targets US military Base in Syria

US forces shoot down kamikaze UAV in Tenef region of Homs

TEL ABYAD, Syria (AA) - An unidentified kamikaze UAV (unmanned ariel vehicle) attempted an attack Sunday on a military base in the Tenef region of Homs in Syria, where US forces are stationed, according to sources.

The attempted attack was after midnight Saturday near the Jordanian border in the desert region of Homs, said the sources.

US forces at the base shot down the UAV in the desert area, according to reports.

On April 1, an attempt was made to attack US forces stationed at the Tenef base with an unidentified armed UAV (UCAV – unmanned combat ariel vehicle), and the UCAV was shot down in an open area.

Recently in Syria, unidentified UCAVs and ground-to-ground weapons have been used to attack US bases in the Tenef region, Malikiyye district near the Iraqi border, Shaddadi district connected to Haseke province and Deir ez-Zor province.

Iran-backed groups occasionally launch rocket and UAV attacks against US bases on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.
