MOSCOW (AA) - Two children were killed in Ukraine's shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod, the administrative center of the region with the same name, according to local authorities on Saturday.
"The armed forces of Ukraine shelled the center of Belgorod. According to preliminary information, two children were killed besides others getting injured," Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.
The official said several shells hit a residential area, damaging and partly destroying several civilian buildings and houses.
The strike damaged the water supply of the region's administrative center, and 10 private houses, he added.
Separately, the Russian Defense Ministry said 32 Ukrainian drones were either jammed or shot down last night.
"Air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 32 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the territories of the Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, and Moscow regions", the ministry's statement said.
