BEIRUT (AA) – At least two people were injured on Tuesday when an Israeli drone struck a motorcycle in the town of Arnoun in southern Lebanon, according to local media.

A missile hit the motorcycle on the Kharadilah-Nabatieh road in southern Lebanon, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Another missile targeted the site when civilians tried to approach to rescue the victims, the broadcaster said, citing witnesses.

Israeli artillery shelling and airstrikes were also reported in the border towns of Ramyeh, Ayta ash-Shaab, Naqoura, and Alma ash-Shaab.

No information was yet available about injuries or damage.

The Israeli army confirmed the drone attack, saying it targeted two Hezbollah members in the town of Mansouri.

It claimed that a drone hit the pair after they were spotted fleeing from the area after launching missiles towards Kiryat Shemona in northern Israel.

There was no comment from Hezbollah on the Israeli claim.

On Monday, the Israeli army said that 20 rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Kiryat Shmona.

Fears have grown of a full-fledged war between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah amid an exchange of cross-border attacks. The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which has killed over 38,700 people since last October, following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
