BERLIN (AA) - At least eight people are dead and five seriously wounded after unknown perpetrators opened fire late Wednesday on two shisha cafes in the western German city of Hanau.
Police confirmed the deaths on Twitter and announced that a major operation was underway to arrest the suspects.
“As yet, there is no reliable information about the possible motive,” they said in a brief statement, asking anyone who has any information about the shootings to contact them.
Hanau is located around 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Frankfurt and has a population of nearly 100,000.
