UPDATE WITH CHANGES HEADLINE, DECK AND LEDE

ISTANBUL (AA) – At a summit of Canada and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on Wednesday, a strategic partnership between the two was announced.
Wednesday also saw the 11th summit of the leaders of the US and the Asian group, with US Vice President Kamala Harris representing Washington.
The meeting stressed the importance of advancing the ASEAN outlook on the Indo-Pacific and anticipated "meaningful" implementation of the annex to the ASEAN-US Plan of Action (2021-2025) in line with their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting also adopted the establishment of an ASEAN-US center in the US, according to a statement posted on ASEAN’s official website.
Jakarta has been hosting the 43rd summit of ASEAN leaders since Monday, and the regional bloc is also holding summits with its partners, including China, the US, and Japan, among others.
