GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – At least 15 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in Israeli strikes targeting homes and a school sheltering displaced civilians in the Gaza Strip on Monday, according to medical sources.
An Israeli drone hit a house in western Gaza City, killing five people, including two children and a woman, and injuring 15 others, a medical source told Anadolu.
Two more people were killed in another drone strike southeast of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, another medical source said.
The source said two women also lost their lives when an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on a school sheltering displaced people in the Al-Mufti area, north of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Palestinian medics recovered the bodies of six people, including two women, who were killed in Israeli attacks in the southern cities of Khan Younis and Rafah, the same source said.
Three more people were injured in an Israeli drone strike on a residential building in Khan Younis, according to medics.
Witnesses said Israeli military vehicles pushed deep into the southern part of the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City amid heavy shelling.
Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last Oct. 7, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
The onslaught has resulted in over 40,400 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and over 93,000 injuries, according to local health authorities.
An ongoing blockade of Gaza has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, leaving much of the region in ruins.
Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge before the area was invaded on May 6.
