ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 0.28% to close Wednesday at 1,569.35 points -- an all-time high close.
Starting the day at 1,573.37 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 4.34 points over Tuesday's close of 1,565.01 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,552.10 and 1,574.30 points.
A total of 56 stocks on the index rose, 42 fell, and two were flat compared to Monday's close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.18 trillion Turkish liras ($158.27 billion) by Tuesday's close, with a daily trading volume of 29.9 billion Turkish liras (nearly $4.01 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by the Turkish Industrial Development Bank, conglomerate Dogan Holding and iron/steel producer Kardemir.
Fertilizer producer Bagfas was the best performer of the day, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks of gold miner Koza dropped the most, losing 2.26%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,849.00 by market close, up from $1,845.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $56.48 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
