ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 1.39% to end Wednesday at 1,479.91 points, an all-time high.
Starting the day at 1,467.66 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 20.22 points over Tuesday's close of 1,459.69 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,463.07 and 1,483.16 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.09 trillion Turkish liras ($147.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 35.5 billion Turkish liras ($4.83 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 59 stocks on the index rose, 36 fell, and five unchanged compared to Tuesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by fertilizer producer Gubretas, defense giant Aselsan and private lender Garanti.
Catering company DOCO was the best performer, with its shares up 9.99%, while stocks of automotive firm Dogus dropped the most, losing 4.57%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,878 by market close, down slightly from $1,879.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $51.55 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Wednesday.
