ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was down 0.81% to end Thursday at 1,546.60 points.
Starting the day at 1,567.11 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 12.68 points over Wednesday's close of 1,559.28 points -- all time high close.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,542.17 and 1,568.06 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.15 trillion Turkish liras ($155.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 31.47 billion Turkish liras ($4.25 billion).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 36 stocks on the index rose, 63 fell, and one was unchanged compared to Wednesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, petrochemical company Petkim and another private lender Akbank.
Cement producer Konya was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of automotive producer Otokar dropped the most, losing 6.19%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,845.15 by market close, down from $1,852.90 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $55.70 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Thursday.
