ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index climbed 0.72 percent to close at 105,082.31 points on Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 104,261.34 points, gaining 752.25 points from Monday's close of 104,330.06 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 103,941.87 and 105,082.31 points during Tuesday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 690 billion Turkish liras ($126.6 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 49 stocks on the index were on the rise, 38 were on the decline, and 13 were flat compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by major appliances producer Vestel, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lender Garanti.
The shares of Vestel were the top gainers -- up 6.39 percent -- and realtor Ihlas Gayrimenkul dropped the most, losing 8.18 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.3010 at close, versus Monday's close of 5.3060.
The euro/lira rate dropped slightly to 6.0260 at Tuesday's close, versus 6.0300 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 6.9940 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 6.9500 at close on Monday.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,324.70 by market close, down from $1,331.00 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $65.30 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday.
