ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed the week up 1.21% at 1,540.61 points.
Starting Friday at 1,531.16 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned just 18.38 points over Thursday's close of 1,522.24 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,519.80 and 1,542.75 points -- 56 stocks on the index rose, 40 fell, and four were flat compared to the previous close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($157 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 37.6 billion Turkish liras (nearly $5.1 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, real estate investment trust Emlak Konut and gold mining firm Koza Altin.
Stocks of cement producer Konya Cimento was the best performer, with its shares up 9.99%, while stocks of cement producer Bursa Cimento dropped the most, losing 3.66%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,892.45 by market close, down from $1,911.10 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was $55.31 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday.
