ANKARA (AA) – Death toll from a building fire in east China rose to 39 as rescue operation ended on Wednesday evening, state media reported.
The fire broke out at approximately 3 p.m. local time (0700GMT) from a street shop in the city of Xinyu in eastern China's Jiangxi Province, Beijing-based Xinhua News reported, citing local fire response emergency officials.
Firefighters arrived on the spot soon after the blaze began and started working to extinguish the flames. No further details, including a probable cause of the fire, were provided.
This is the second fire incident In China involving casualties in less than a week.
Last Saturday, at least 13 people were killed when a fire broke out in a school dormitory in the central Henan Province.
