LONDON (AA) - Firefighters have extinguished a fire that broke out at a 45-story tower block in East London, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said Monday.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled the fire in the building on Biscayne Avenue in Blackwall, the LFB said in a statement.
"A small part of a five-room flat and the entirety of a balcony on the 25th floor of the 45-story building were destroyed by fire," it added.
The LFB advised locals to keep windows and doors shut and avoid Biscayne Avenue as the fire produced a large amount of smoke.
Earlier in the day, 200 firefighters responded to another fire at a high-rise tower block partly used by residents in Dagenham, East London.
