UPDATES WITH RULING BJP LEADING IN 3 STATES; REVISES HEADLINE, DECK, LEDE

NEW DELHI (AA) - India’s ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in three of four states in key regional elections on Sunday, early results showed on Sunday.
According to the Indian Election Commission’s website, BJP was leading in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
The opposition Congress party was leading in southern Telangana state, the website showed.
The vote count is taking place in 638 assembly constituencies in the four states.
These states, along with northeastern Mizoram state went for provincial polls in several phases on Nov. 7-30. Mizoram will count votes on Monday, according to election authorities.
The elections have significance as they are held ahead of the 2024 general elections.
