GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - Israeli tanks pushed deep into the eastern Gaza Strip and reached a main highway in Gaza City on Monday, witnesses told Anadolu.
“Some Israeli tanks and a bulldozer moved into eastern Gaza and reached Netzarim junction and Salah al-Din street in Gaza City,” they said.
The tanks moved Sunday night from Juhor Ad-Dik town in the eastern Gaza Strip to Salah al-Din street, southeast of Gaza City, according to the witnesses.
The incursion coincided with heavy artillery shelling and airstrikes, they said.
An Israeli tank shelled a vehicle carrying a Palestinian family as it moved from southern Gaza to Gaza City, according to the witnesses.
No information was yet available about casualties.
The Israeli army on Friday widened its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the surprise offensive by Hamas on Oct. 7.
Nearly 9,500 people have been killed in the conflict, including 8,005 Palestinians, mostly children and women, and more than 1,538 Israelis.
