ANKARA (AA) - Joel Embiid on Tuesday extended his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, the NBA team confirmed.
"OFFICIAL! Joel Embiid has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain in Philadelphia," the 76ers said on Twitter.
In a statement, Philadelphia said that as the team's policy, the terms of the 27-year-old's deal were not cited.
Earlier Tuesday, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Embiid has agreed to a four-year contract with the 76ers for $196 million.
Cameroonian center-forward Embiid was the MVP (Most Valuable Player) runner-up of the 2020-21 NBA season that he averaged 28.5 points and 10.6 rebounds in 51 games.
The four-time All-Star was drafted in 2014 to play for Philadelphia.
