UPDATES WITH EMIR'S APPROVAL
KUWAIT CITY (AA) - Kuwait's prime minister has submitted the resignation of his Cabinet, government spokesman Tareq Al-Mezrem said Thursday.
The resignation comes after a no confidence motion was filed by lawmakers on Tuesday against Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid al-Jarrah al-Sabah, a member of the royal family.
The resignation was accepted by the Kuwaiti emir after which a new Cabinet will be formed.
"His Highness the Emir accepted the resignation of the government and ordered it to continue as a caretaker until the formation of the new Cabinet," government spokesman Tareq al-Mazrem, said.
Formed in Dec. 2017, this is the 7th resigned government headed by Prime Minister Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as he has been premier since his first government was formed in Nov. 2011.
