ANKARA (AA) - Fourteen state police officers were killed in an attack by a drug cartel in western Mexico, authorities said Monday.
The Jalisco New Generation cartel is a Mexican criminal group reportedly headed by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, one of Mexico's most wanted suspected drug barons.
The Ministry of Public Safety and Protection (SSPC) condemned the deadly attack, which took place in the municipality of Aguililla in the western state of Michoacan.
"We are in communication and we make available all our human and technological resources of the state government to find the aggressors and bring them to justice," the ministry said on Twitter.
