RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian was killed by Israeli army fire in the northern West Bank on Monday, according to the Health Ministry.
A ministry statement said the Palestinian succumbed to his critical injuries after being shot in the abdomen by Israeli forces in Jenin city.
The circumstances of his death, however, were not yet clear.
Another ministry statement said five people were also injured by Israeli fire.
According to eyewitnesses, Israeli forces besieged a house and shelled it before detaining a Palestinian holed up inside amid clashes with Palestinian gunmen.
There was no comment yet from the Israeli military on the report.
Tension has been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent weeks amid repeated Israeli raids to detain what they say "wanted Palestinians".
