RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian woman was killed and five others were injured late Wednesday during an Israeli military incursion into the village of Anza in southern Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

According to a statement from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, its teams transported a woman's body and four injured people, three of whom were women, to a hospital.

The injured included a 73-year-old woman who was shot in the head, a 9-year-old girl, and a young man who suffered jaw injuries, it said.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of Zohour Qassem Amour, 32, from Israeli gunfire in Anza.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, a 15-year-old boy was injured when he was run over by an Israeli military vehicle during another incursion into Nablus' Al Taawun street.

Ayman Obeida, a member of the village council, said a special Israeli military unit entered the village disguised in a civilian vehicle to arrest a young man, followed by military vehicles.

He added that special forces “opened fire indiscriminately, leading to the woman's death and injuries to others who were gathered at a mourning house in the village.”

Witnesses told Anadolu that the army raided the village under heavy gunfire, with reports of armed clashes and troops surrounding a home.

Later, witnesses reported that the army arrested a young man from the house before withdrawing from the village.

State-run Palestine TV reported that the Israeli army invaded Jenin and its refugee camp, detonating a house.

Activists on social media shared videos of military vehicles blocking ambulances from reaching those injured in Anza.

- Israeli forces continue arresting Palestinians

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces arrested a young man in Jenin after stopping and searching his vehicle. They also arrested five others in the Jabriyat neighborhood.

The Israeli soldiers have been present in the city and camp since Wednesday afternoon, surrounding Jenin Governmental Hospital and Ibn Sina Hospital and obstructing ambulance service, the news agency added.

WAFA reported that Israeli forces also raided several villages and towns in the northern West Bank, including Jamma'in, south of Nablus, and detained three Palestinians.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces raided the town of Al-Khader in the south of Bethlehem, firing tear gas shells, hurling sound grenades, and flares. No injuries were reported by the news agency.

Meanwhile, in the central West Bank, Israeli forces entered Deir Qaddis, west of Ramallah, detained several young men for questioning and fired tear gas into residential areas. According to the media outlet, there were no injuries or arrests.

In recent years, the Israeli military has conducted regular raids in the occupied West Bank, which have escalated with the beginning of the onslaught against the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7.

Palestinians have also been brutally attacked by illegal Israeli settlers.

At least 718 Palestinians have since been killed and more than 5,750 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Palestinians Health Ministry.

The International Court of Justice, in a landmark opinion on July 19, declared Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land "illegal" and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
