ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia said on Sunday that at least one person was injured in the Kursk region due to an overnight Ukrainian drone attack that also caused a fire at an oil depot.

“Last night, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot in the Kursk region. Three fuel tanks caught fire," acting governor Alexey Smirnov said on Telegram.

He said debris from falling drones also caused a fire at a house in the village of Medvenka, about 45 kilometers (28 miles) south of the region’s administrative capital, which was later extinguished and resulted in no casualties.

A resident in the town of Sudzha was injured after an explosive device was dropped on a residential building, he added.

In a separate statement, the Defense Ministry said it downed two Ukrainian drones over the region.

Ukraine's General Staff later said it struck the Polyova oil depot, and that it has information about powerful explosions in the area of ​​an electric substation in Kursk.
