BAGHDAD (AA) - The Iraqi Health Ministry said on Tuesday that at least 31 people were killed and 100 others were wounded in a stampede during a religious ceremony in the southern province of Karbala.
"At least 31 people were killed and 100 others injured in the incident," Health Ministry spokesman Saif al-Bader said in a statement.
Al-Bader pointed out 10 of the injured are in critical condition.
Previously, a security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Anadolu Agency that at least 31 people were killed and dozens others injured in a walkway collapse during the Ashura ceremony in Karbala.
