ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 0.27 percent to close Wednesday at 103,452.85 points.
Starting the day at 104,026.09 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 277.74 points from Tuesday's close of 103,730.59 points.
The benchmark stock index hovered between 103,365.09 and 104,866.55 points during Wednesday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 681 billion Turkish liras ($127 billion) by market close and the daily trading volume was 7 billion Turkish liras (some $1.3 billion).
On Wednesday, 39 stocks on the index were on the rise, while 58 were on the decline, and eight were flat compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti and iron and steel producer Kardemir.
Shares of Coca Cola Icecek (CCOLA) were the top gainers -- up 4.62 percent -- and stocks of automotive manufacturer Karsan (KARSN) dropped most by 13.26 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.4210 at close, up from 5.3830 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/lira rate rose to 6.1330 at Wednesday's close, versus 6.1010 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 7.1360 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.0820 at close on Tuesday.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold stood at $1,287.30 by market close, up from $1,286.50 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $65.65 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Wednesday, with a day range of $65.22 to $65.94.
