ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday decreasing 1.47% to close at 1,092.16 points.
After starting the day at 1,114.05 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 16.28 points from 1,108.44 points at Monday's close.
On Tuesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,083.14 and 1,118.24 points -- 21 stocks on the index rose, 78 fell and one was flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 801.2 billion Turkish liras ($109.2 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 17.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).
Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, petrochemical giant Petkim and polyester producer Sasa saw the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of Sasa registered the best performance, up 8.05%, while shares of real estate investment trust Ozak suffered the most, losing 4.77%.
One ounce of gold sold for $1,926.20 by market close, down from $1,953.20, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent oil was $46.15 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday, with a day range of $45.50 to $46.51.
