ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index was down 0.58% to close Thursday at 1,271.75 points.
Starting the day at 1,284.52 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 7.47 points over the midweek's close of 1,279.22 points -- all-time high.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,262.58 and 1,303.81 points -- 25 stocks on the index rose and 75 fell compared to the previous close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 935 billion Turkish liras ($121.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 55.2 billion Turkish liras (nearly $7.1 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lenders Garanti BBVA and Yapi Kredi Bank, and flagship carrier Turkish Airlines.
Automotive company Dogus Otomotiv was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks of cement producer Bursa Cimento dropped the most with 9.79%
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,879 by market close, up from $1,857 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $44.30 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT) on Thursday.
