UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at close

BIST 100 index falls 0.60 percent, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 5.5760

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index went down 0.60 percent to close at 93,533.12 points on Tuesday.

After starting the day at 93,635.07 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 568.15 points from the previous close.

Peaking at 95.352,16 points, the BIST 100's daily low was 93.132,28 points during Tuesday's trading -- 37 stocks on the index rose, 56 fell, and seven were flat compared to the previous close.

The index posted a daily trading volume of 6.9 billion Turkish liras (some $1.2 billion), closing the day with a market value of around 620 billion Turkish liras ($111 billion).

The highest trading volumes were seen in stocks of private lender Garanti Bankasi, Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and state lender Halkbank.

Stocks of leasing company Is Finansal Kiralama (ISFIN) enjoyed the highest increase on Tuesday with a 5.05 percent rise, as shares of interest-free lender Albaraka Turk (ALBRK) did the worst, falling 6.29 percent.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,290.00 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,295.05 at the close on Monday.

With a day range of $68.69 to $69.5, the price of Brent oil was around $69.19 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday. At the beginning of 2019, the price of Brent oil was around $53 per barrel.
