ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.60% to close Tuesday at 1,153.71 points.
After starting the day at 1,165.12 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 7 points over Monday's close of 1,160.71 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,153.71 and 1,170.48 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 843.37 billion Turkish liras ($109.09 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 20.68 billion Turkish liras ($2.66 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 32 stocks on the index rose, 65 fell, and three were flat compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, automotive company Dogus, and glass producer Sisecam.
Energy firm Aksa was the best performer, with its shares up 9.99%, while stocks of Dogus dropped the most, losing 3.71%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,916.50 by market close, up from $1,850 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $42.50 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Tuesday.
