ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.11% to close Wednesday at 1,152.41 points.
After starting the day at 1,150.10 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 1.3 points over Tuesday's close of 1,153.71 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,147.43 and 1,156.88 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 843.86 billion Turkish liras ($108.95 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 17.26 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose, 53 fell, and four were flat compared to Tuesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, automotive firm Dogus and glass producer Sisecam.
Agricultural firm Hektas was the best performer, with its shares up 7.02%, while stocks of tractor producer Tumosan dropped the most, losing 3.77%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,890.10 by market close, down from $1,916.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $41.70 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Wednesday.
