BIST 100 loses almost 4 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,363.28 points on Friday, down 0.29% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,370.32 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 3.97 points from Wednesday's close of 1,367.25 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,356.95 points, while its daily high was 1,373.63 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.02 trillion Turkish liras ($119.1 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 8.86 billion Turkish liras ($1.04 billion).

On the final transaction day of the week, 48 stocks on the index rose, 46 fell, and six were flat compared to Wednesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by polyester producer Sasa, flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lender Garanti BBVA.

Turkish conglomerate Net Holding was the best performer with its shares up 5.51%. Stocks of Sasa saw the sharpest drop with 2.7%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,821 by market close, up from $1,810 on Wednesday, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $73.82 per barrel as of 6.44 p.m. local time (1544GMT).

Borsa Istanbul was closed on Thursday as the country observed Democracy and National Unity Day to mark the anniversary of the defeated coup on July 15, 2016.
