ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,391.65 points on Tuesday, down 0.19% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,396.11 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 2.72 points from the previous close of 1,394.37 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,388.54 points, while its daily high was 1,396.44 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1 trillion Turkish liras ($126 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras ($1.35 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 35 stocks on the index rose, 59 fell, and the remaining were flat compared to Monday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and oil refiner Tupras.
Shares of private lender Albaraka Turk performed the best, rising 9.70%, while stocks of waste-to-energy firm Biotrend dropped the most -- 10%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,757.80 by market close, up from $1,752.95.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $82.92 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT).
