ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's BIST 100 fell 0.90 percent to close Wednesday at 104,141.04 points.
After starting the day at 105,117.48 points, over the day Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 941.27 points from Tuesday's close of 105,082.31 points.
The benchmark stock index hovered between 104,117.24 and 105,269.35 points during Wednesday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 684.4 billion Turkish liras ($129.3 billion) by market close and the daily trading volume was 7.1 billion Turkish liras (some $1.3 billion).
On Wednesday, 27 stocks on the index were on the rise, while 70 were on the decline, and three were flat compared to the previous close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, major appliances producer Vestel and private lender Garanti.
Shares of Vestel were the top gainers -- up 16.80 percent -- and stocks real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul dropped most by 7.92 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.2950 at close, down slightly from 5.3010 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/lira rate rose to 6.0320 at Wednesday's close, versus 6.0260 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 7.0640 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 6.9940 at close on Tuesday.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold stood at $1,328.50 by market close, up from $1,324.70 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil traded at $65.92 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Wednesday, with a day range of $65.42 to $66.52.
