ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 1.44% to close at 86,777.63 points Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 86,099.52 points and gained 1,232.23 points from Monday's close of 85,545.4 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 86,099.52 and 87,728.76 points during Tuesday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 575.8 billion Turkish liras ($95.2 billion) by the market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.12 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 77 stocks on the index were on the rise, 13 were on the decline and 10 were flat compared to the previous close.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($6.4 billion), private lender Garanti ($5.2 billion) and Akbank ($4.9 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines and petrochemical company Petkim.
Celebi Hava Servisi, which provides integrated ground services at airports, was the top gainer, with its shares up 7.62%, while shares of prominent sports club Besiktas fell the most, down 2.21%.
One ounce of gold was sold for $1,277.80 at the weekly close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $68.40 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday.
