ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index stood at 110,939.96 points at the closing session of Wednesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the midweek at 111,327.92 points. It closed Tuesday at 110,939.66 points.
During the day, the index's lowest level was 110,414.06 points, while the highest was 111,615.13 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 797.2 billion Turkish liras ($116.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 15.75 billion Turkish liras ($2.3 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 51 stocks on the index rose, 46 were down, and three were flat compared to Tuesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by medicine firm Eczacibasi, private lender Garanti, and defense giant Aselsan.
Automotive firm Dogus was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while chemical company Alkim dropped the most, losing 2.57%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,718.20 by market close, down from $1,730.15 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $40.80 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
