BIST 100 earns 10.43 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index hit all-time high at Wednesday's close, reading 1,350.32 points, up 0.78%.

Starting the day at 1,345.91 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 10.43 points over Tuesday's close of 1,339.89 points.

On Wednesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,342.42 and 1,360.63 points -- 56 stocks on the index rose, 41 fell and three were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of some 998.9 billion Turkish liras ($127.7 billion), the benchmark index posted daily trading volume of 37.1 billion Turkish liras ($4.74 billion).

Shares of private lenders Garanti BBVA, iron producer Eregli Demir Celik and petrochemical firm Petkim saw the highest trading volumes.

Stocks of Dogan Holding registered the best performance, up 8.71%, while shares of Iskenderun Demir ve Celik suffered the most, losing 3.10%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,842.00 by market close, down from $1,846.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $48.4 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
