ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Wednesday at 1,547.11 points, a rise of 0.20%.
After starting the day at 1,553.41 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 3.06 points from 1,544.05 points at Tuesday's close.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,536.44 and 1,556.70 points – 54 stocks on the index rose, 43 fell, and three were flat compared to the previous close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.16 trillion Turkish liras ($165 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 27.1 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.84 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by gold miner Koza, real estate investment trust Emlak Konut, and petrochemical company Petkim.
Fertilizer producer Ege Gubre was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks conglomerate Bera Holding dropped the most, down 9.98%.
One ounce of gold sold for $1,840.00 by market close, down from $1,843.50, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent oil was around $61.10 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT) on Wednesday, with a daily range of $60.87 to $61.61.
