ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday rising 0.58% to close at 1,092.46 points.
After starting at 1,087.75 points on Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 6.26 points from 1,086.20 points at Monday's close.
On Tuesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,084.47 and 1,100.59 points -- 58 stocks on the index rose, 35 fell, and seven were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 802.6 billion Turkish liras ($108.9 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 13.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).
Shares of state lender Garanti BBVA, insurance company Gunes Sigorta and defense electronics firm Aselsan saw the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of Gunes Sigorta registered the best performance, up 9.86%, while shares of Borusan Mannesmann, a prominent pipe manufacturer, suffered the most, losing 4.17%.
One ounce of gold sold for $2,008.50 by market close, up from $1,959.30, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent oil was $45.11 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday, with a day range of $44.76 to $45.55.
