ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,417.70 points on Monday, up 0.58% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,411.38 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 8.14 points from Friday's close of 1,409.56 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,407.87 points and its daily high was 1,419.22 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 16.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).
A total of 62 stocks on the index rose, 31 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Friday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and oil refiner Tupras.
Shares of fertilizer company Gubre Fabrikalari performed the best, rising 9.96%, while stocks of pharmaceutical firm Turk Ilac ve Serum Sanayi dropped the most, 4.23%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,762.60 by market close, down from $1,772.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was down 0.1% to $84.78 per barrel as of 6:36 p.m. local time (1536GMT).
